An evening at the Landscape Arboretum!

7:00 p.m. - Thursday, September 17

Meet Katherine Allen, new librarian of the Anderson Horticultural Library & see some of the library's most recent acquisitions along with some works donated by former Governor Elmer Anderson.

We will also be observing the 100th anniversary of Elmer Anderson's birth with a tribute by Rob Rulon-Miller.


October

Amanda Degener:
Work & Artwork in Australia and China

7:00 p.m. - Thursday, October 15

Amanda Degener of Cave Paper recently spent time in Australia & China teaching, traveling, and helping to set up a paper making studio. Amanda will be presenting a slide show and talking about her experiences during her travels.

Don Luce presents: Francis Lee Jaques

7:00 p.m. - Thursday, November 5

A presentation by Don Luce, Curator of Art Exhibits at the Bell Museum, of examples of Jaques' paintings and book illustrations will be highlighted along with a tour of the museum dioramas with Jaques backgrounds.


December

100th Birthday of the Vandercook

Join us for a presentation of The Vandercook Book by Jeff Rathermel. The limited edition book contains 30 letterpress printed folios representing the vast diversity of work facilitated by the Vandercook. Published by Barbara Henry & Roni Grossin in celebration of the centennial.

Other than the annual dinner this is often the most well attended Ampersand event of the season. If you have not been to an event for a while this would be your chance to see some familiar faces, as well as those that spark a dim recollection from last years holiday party or annual dinner.

Stuart Klipper: A City As Once Seen

7:00 p.m. - Thursday, February 11

Stuart Klipper will talk about his new fine press book, A City As Once Seen designed and printed by Colin Frazer at The Press at Colorado College.

Stuart's 27 panoramic photographs were all made prior to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and captures a cityscape that in some cases is forever altered.

Books by the Numbers

March forth on March fourth for a preview of the upcoming exhibit: Quantified Aesthetics - 55 individual works of art by 44 book artists, printmakers & mixed media artists from 14 states & 7 nations abroad

Local artists Richard Stephens, Regula Russelle, Jeff Millikan, Mary Bergs, and Chip Schilling will be presenting their work, and many of the works in the show will be available for handling at the event.

"The need to order our world is an innate human characteristic. This exhibition explores the art of this practice through works featuring numbers, formulas, codes, counting systems and a variety of other mathematical organizational schemes. Book art from over 50 artists from around the globe will be presented in this unique exhibition curated by MCBA artistic director Jeff Rathermel." - MCBA

BYOB: Bring Your Own Book - A Bibliophilic Show & Tell

7:00 p.m. - Thursday, April 1 (Yes, really.)

To the Walker Art Center Library for a show & tell of a new or old favorite from your collection, press, or library.

Members will be invited to bring their latest favorite book for a bibliophilic show and tell. This is an opportunity for unique dialogue about book collection among members.
